Obituary for Robert D. "Wiggy" Wargo
WARGO Robert Donald "Wiggy" Wargo, age 66, of Stratford, beloved husband of Donna Anne (Boyles) Wargo, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Wargo was born February 19, 1949 in Bridgeport, son of the late Leslie and Katherine (Saunders) Wargo and had been a lifetime area resident.
Robert was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical School and was retired from Envirotech Environmental Services.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, but mostly Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to make people smile. His motto was always, "be happy."
Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife, include his two children, Robert Wargo Jr. and his wife Melissa of Farmington and Melanie Wargo and her husband James Gustaveson of Bridgeport; his brother, Leslie G. Wargo and his companion, Valerie Adintori of Stratford; his mother-in-law, Marie Boyles and several sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews with whom he was very close.
He was predeceased by an infant son, Christopher.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Astoria Park Nursing facility for their excellent care and compassion during Robert's stay with them.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave Stratford, CT. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Rd., Wilton, CT 06897, https://donate.cancer.org.
