Obituary for Stanley J. Grabiec
Stanley J. Grabiec, age 85, beloved husband of the late Theresa (Koundry) Grabiec, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Lord Chamberlain Nursing facility, Stratford with his loving daughter Mary Ellen by his side. Mr. Grabiec was born January 24, 1928, in Bridgeport, son of the late Antoni and Anna (Krupka) Grabiec and had been a long time Stratford resident. He was a retired steel worker for both International Harvester and Chapin & Bangs Steel. Stanley loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially his son Mark and his weekly Sunday phone conversations with granddaughter, Michelle. Along with his late wife, Theresa, the Grabiec Memorial Day picnic was the summer highlight for many. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Mary Ellen Tomas and her husband Andrew of Stratford; three grandchildren, Michelle Tomas of Pennsylvania, Rachael Grabiec and Joshua Grabiec, both of Fairfield; one brother, Frank Grabiec and his wife Marge of Trumbull; a sister-in-law, Margaret Grabiec of Apple Valley CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Grabiec; two sons, Mark and Kenneth Grabiec; and a brother, Joseph Grabiec. The family would like to thank the third floor staff of Lord Chamberlain and Connecticut Hospice nurse, Chris and CNA, Patrice for their care of Stanley. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave, Stratford. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford.
