Obituary for The Honorable Richard P. Gilardi
State of CT Superior Court Judge, the Honorable Richard P Gilardi, age 78, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Maureen (Trent) Gilardi, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in the Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle, New York. Â Judge Gilardi was born August 3, 1939 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of Alfonso and Evelina (Paolino) Gilardi and was a long time Stratford resident. Â
Judge Gilardi was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and St. John’s University School of Law.  He was passionate about the law and politics, and was a member of the Stratford Republican Town Committee for 25 years, including nine as its Chairman, and served as Town Attorney for 19 years.  He enjoyed fishing, the NY Mets, and NASCAR racing especially Kyle Busch.  He loved conversation and spending time with his family and dinners with his closest friends.
Survivors include his two children, Ross Gilardi (Christy) and Aline Gilardi Carroll (Tom); two grandchildren, Lena and Lucas Gilardi, a sister Barbara Benavides; step-daughter Debby Kehlenbach (Ralph), and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St, Stratford, CT. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.Â
Friends may visit with his family Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 200 S.E. First Street, Miami, FL 33131, www.parkinson.org.
